Shock in the holiday home: Brothers abuse seven -year -old carpenters!
In a holiday home in Vorarlberg, Austria, there were shocking incidents in which two brothers, aged 11 and 12, are said to have abused a seven -year -old boy and other children. The incident only became known on the last day of the holiday stay, which led to a massive criticism of the home operator. The home management only learned late from the attacks that borne both physical and psychological forms, including locking the victim into a locker with deodorant spray, binding to the bed and even physical abuse. According to reports, one of the victims in the hospital had to be treated. The incidents took place in a holiday home that supervised between 90 and 100 children between the ages of 6 and 13 during the summer months.
The Dornbirn district court sentenced the home operator to pay 23,000 euros in pain and suffering to the affected seven -year -old boy. This decision is not yet final, but there are considerable defects in the care that the court found. The lawyer Stefan Denifl critically commented on the linger reaction of those responsible and the insufficient support of the affected children. The failures in child protection are serious and include, among other things, the lack of a confidant for the children and an anonymous mailbox for symptoms. In addition, control courses are rarely carried out by the home staff, and there are allegations of alcohol abuse in the personnel area.
Psychological violence and emotional neglect
The incidents in the Ferienheim also shed light on the problem of mental violence and emotional neglect against children. These forms of abuse can have serious consequences for the development of children. Among other things, they include isolation, threats and emotional devaluation, which often lead to feelings of fainting, worthlessness and dependency. The course of the psychological abuse can be as harmful as physical or sexual violence, which underlines the importance of an effective child protection system.
A report by the Institute for Social Services (ifs) points out that such attacks among children are not uncommon. However, this case is particularly exceptional, which is why the demand for mandatory child protection concepts in holiday homes is becoming increasingly louder. There are currently no uniform standards in Austria. In Vorarlberg there are recommendations, but they are not mandatory. Experts emphasize the need to empower children and provide them with contacts who can help them escape such situations.
The shock waves caused by the abuse in the holiday home have reignited the discussion about child protection in Austria. The public and experts are calling for comprehensive reforms to ensure the safety of children in such institutions. It is essential that measures are taken to prevent future incidents and provide the necessary support to affected children.
