ÖSV women dominate the European Cup: quadruple victory despite storm chaos!
A turbulent conclusion to the downhill season in the European Ski Cup caused great disappointment on Sunday in Kvitfjell, Norway. Strong winds forced the organizers to cancel the final, meaning that only four of the originally planned runs made it into the rankings. Despite these adverse circumstances, the Austrian women were able to shine and secured a great triumph. As the crown reported, the ÖSV women achieved a total of ten out of twelve possible podium places and celebrated an impressive quadruple victory in the overall ranking. Nadine Fest, with an outstanding three wins and a total of 380 points, as well as Carmen Spielberger and Victoria Olivier, who also performed strongly, secured permanent places for next season's World Cup.
In St. Moritz, however, the ÖSV runners celebrated several successes on Friday. Nadine Fest and Carmen Spielberger achieved fantastic results in the two downhill runs. Fest won the first event, while Spielberger triumphed in the second downhill. How Laola1 reported, Spielberger left her teammate Fest behind by 0.17 seconds and thus secured her first European Cup victory.
Success under adverse conditions
There were also exciting developments among the men. Felix Hacker, who won three downhill runs this winter, ended the season in third place overall with 350 points due to the cancellation in Kvitfjell and remained optimistic despite injury. While the Super-G in Santa Caterina saw another Austrian victory, Hacker was unable to complete his hat-trick and still managed a respectable second place, behind Vincent Wieser, who took the win.
