Moki Carinthia celebrates 20 years: Support for sick children and families!

On September 19, 2025, the mobile children's nursing Carinthia (Moki Carinthia) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festive family festival in the Minimundus in Klagenfurt, to which around 180 guests, including many supervised families, were invited. The event was visited by State Councilor Beate Prettner, who congratulated the managing director Sabine Grünberger and her team. For two decades, Moki Carinthia has set itself the task of supporting families with seriously ill, disabled or dying children with professional care.

The state of Carinthia supports mobile child nursing annually with over 480,000 euros, which corresponds to an hourly quota of 7,800 hours. This financial support is essential to enable the families to accompany the families in their usual environment - be it at home, kindergarten or at school. The aim of this initiative is to promote life in the greatest possible normality, security and self -determination for affected children and their families.

Extensive offers for families

Moki Carinthia provides a wide range of services that include medical care, advice and psychosocial support. Around 680 families have been accompanied in the past 20 years. The highlight of the offer is the medical and nursing school assistance that has existed since 2008, which is offered in 16 schools. These measures aim to facilitate integration into everyday school life and at the same time take their specific health needs into account.

Sabine Grünberger underlines the importance of trust and cooperation with the families to ensure effective support. The professional pediatric nurse of the Moki team ensure that medical care takes place in a familiar environment, which relieves both the children and the parents.

Additional support for parents

Mobile pediatric nursing not only offers the direct care of the sick children, but also extensive support for the parents. This includes advice in financial aspects and the application for care aids. The nursing staff works closely with treating doctors to reduce hospital stays as far as possible and to ensure seamless care. The practical offers include a change of association, care baths and the professional guidance for the implementation of medical measures in the home environment.

The flexible adaptation of outpatient care to the respective family situation is an important element of the offer. This ensures that the needs of each family are taken into account individually and that the children receive the best possible care in their usual environment.

The commitment of Moki Carinthia and the support of the state of Carinthia are crucial to help affected families helpful in difficult times and to enable life in dignity. For more information on the programs and possibilities of mobile children's nursing, it is worth taking a look at the pages of the Upper Austria relief organization, which also emphasizes the importance of these social benefits.
