Blood pool in the Gaza Strip: 25 dead in humanitarian aid campaign!
In the Gaza Strip, there was again a tragic incident in which Israeli soldiers have killed at least 25 people, according to Palestinians. The incident occurred near a distribution center for humanitarian aid in Khan Younis, where about 70 other people were injured. The Gaza Humanitrian Foundation (GHF), which is responsible for the distribution of food in the Gaza Strip, was involved in the events and had recently resumed its work after months of Israeli blockade. According to reports, the number of victims could continue to increase. So far there has been no comment on this incident from the Israeli army.
The UN has repeatedly criticized that the GHF does not act independently in the context of the Middle East conflict and that it lacks distribution centers. In the past few weeks, hundreds of people have already been killed in a direct connection with auxiliary deliveries and distribution centers. This situation illustrates the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the region, which has further exacerbated by the Israeli soil offensive since mid -May.
Humanitarian crisis in Gaza and international reactions
Despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that has existed since January 20, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dramatic. Around 1.9 million people, that is 90 % of the population, are displaced persons. The basic supply of food, water and medical goods has collapsed. Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul points out that human rights and well -being of the civilian population in Gaza should be the focus of international help.
The Federal Government has increased the help of the Palestinian areas by October 7, 2023 by more than 300 million euros in order to provide medical and food aid. Organizations such as UNICEF and the world nutrition program receive support for the provision of supplementary food and infant beginnings.
collaboration with international organizations
The World Health Organization, the German Red Cross, Johanniter, Care International and Oxfam are actively involved in improving health care. In addition, the United Nations development program supports waste disposal for disease prevention. The UNRWA plays a central role in the basic supply of the Palestinian population, but has structural need for improvement. The Federal Government has therefore reorganized cooperation with the UNRWA, whereby future support depends on necessary reforms.
The repeated incident in Gaza and the associated fatal incidents at distribution centers show the urgent need for international community to find effective solutions in the region to cope with the humanitarian crisis and to ensure the security of the civilian population.
