North Korean troops in Russia: new danger for Ukraine!

Ukraine is preparing for a dramatic battle against North Korean troops sent to Russia's Kursk region. On Wednesday, the US Defense Department confirmed that North Korean soldiers are near the front lines as tensions in the Ukraine conflict continue to escalate. According to Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder, some North Korean troops are already stationed in Kursk Oblast, with another 3,000 troops expected to arrive soon. This development could have a significant impact on the dynamics of the war.

NATO has called the deployment of North Korean troops “a significant escalation.” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that North Korean forces are now actively involved in Russia's illegal war. However, experts disagree about the actual military impact of these troops. A researcher at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Olena Guseinova, emphasizes that North Korea may only be able to provide limited support because controlling large numbers of soldiers could be difficult. Furthermore, North Korea could not risk weakening its own resources, especially given the threat from South Korea.

Political tensions and military strategies

The USA has remained cautious about possible military actions by Ukraine against North Korean troops. President Joe Biden said Ukraine has the right to defend itself if North Korean soldiers invade its territory. At the same time, South Korea has questioned its military support for Ukraine after North Korean aid to Russia was revealed. This shows the complex geopolitical tensions arising from North Korea's involvement in the conflict.

Meanwhile, Russia continues to make small territorial gains in Ukraine. On Sunday, Russian troops captured the settlement of Selidovo in eastern Ukraine. Despite this progress, the military situation remains tense and experts agree that Russia is not achieving the same rapid successes as at the beginning of the war. Ukraine, on the other hand, is continuing to develop its own defense industry and is increasingly relying on drone technology to strengthen its military capabilities.
