Long traffic jam on the Inntal motorway: truck accident causes traffic chaos

On Monday morning, September 23, 2025, there was a significant truck accident on the Inntal Autobahn (A12), which significantly affected early traffic. The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m., not far from the Hall Mitte junction in the direction of Innsbruck. One lane had to be closed for cleanup work due to lost cargo. Details of the exact course of the accident are not yet known.

As ÖAMTC reports, a traffic jam formed that was around 13 kilometers long and stretched back to Schwaz. From 7:15 a.m., road users were faced with a loss of over an hour. The alternative route via Tiroler Straße (B171) was also affected by delays.

Further accident reports in the region

crown The truck driver suffered bruises and a concussion and was taken to the Innsbruck University Hospital after initial treatment. However, the driver of the car and her passenger remained uninjured. Both vehicles sustained significant damage as a result of the collision and had to be towed away. In the area of the accident, the A12 was only accessible in one lane for around two hours.

Campaign against fake data requests

There is currently an unpleasant parallel development in connection with traffic and accident hotspots in Germany. Among other things, there are fake cover letters in circulation that supposedly come from the Federal Statistical Office and demand data reporting for a supposed study on international economic relations. Legal action is threatened if the requested data is not received. The relevant warning from the Federal Statistical Office makes it clear that these cover letters are not authentic and that no such studies are carried out.

It is recommended to ignore such requests as they do not come from official bodies.
