Woman rescued from Rhine in Vorarlberg: Dramatic water rescue successful!

On September 15, 2025, around 8:10 a.m., a fisherman alerted the police after discovering a motionless person in the Rhine near Hard in Vorarlberg. However, the fisherman lost visual contact with the lifeless woman shortly afterwards and immediately alerted the relevant authorities. This led to a large -scale search that was initiated immediately. At around 9 a.m., the flight police were able to discover the person downstream on the right bank of the Rhine.

The emergency services rose from the water aged 40 to 50 and immediately took resuscitation measures. Thanks to the rapid reaction of the rescue workers, the woman could be stabilized around 9:25 a.m. It was transported to the State Hospital Feldkirch with an emergency helicopter. The woman's identity has so far remained unknown and it is unclear how her condition came about.

Ranimation measures and first aid

Such emergency situations, such as the present drowning accident, often lead to uncertainties among the emergency services. Effective first aid is usually guided by the ABCDE scheme, which enables the patient's structured care. Especially in recent years, the number of drowning accidents has increased, not only in Austria, but also in Germany, where there were a total of 488 drowning cases in 2015.

The most common causes of such accidents are internal or neurological emergencies in the water, falls of non -swimmers as well as exhaustion, panic or overestimation of strength. The influence of alcohol or drugs can also play a role. The fact that often lack of swimming skills in children and adolescents increase the risks is particularly worrying.

Investigations and information

The water police have now started the investigation into the incident and asks possible witnesses for clues. The numerous emergency services, including the federal police, the security guard Hard, the Austrian water rescue and the Red Cross with the emergency doctor team and fire brigade, testify the urgency of the search for the search for the circumstances that led to this dramatic use. Information on the identity of women can be submitted to the Vorarlberg water police.
