A new course offered by the Caritas Academy offers volunteers a way to improve their knowledge of German in practice and help others to integrate better. Loud tirol.orf.at the first 15 graduates of the program were now able to start successfully as a language tandem. German native speakers and refugees work together over three months to expand language skills and consolidate the German grammar. Professional qualification for teachers

But the commitment does not end here. The Caritas Academy also offers comprehensive training for prospective German as a foreign or second language trainer. How caritasakademie.at explains, this course is accompanied by experienced speakers for nine months and enables practical teaching experiences at an early stage. The aim is to train the participants in the planning, implementation and evaluation of DAZ courses. There is also a complementary focus on adapting the lesson to the needs of the target group, especially in the context of asylum and migration.

The Caritas Academy knows about the importance of language for successful integration. According to director Elisabeth Rathgeb, language is the "key factor for successful integration". The tandem program and the training for teachers based on it represent valuable building blocks in order to tackle this challenge and to actively support the integration of refugees.
