Shocking reality: Ukrainian children in danger of war and neglected!
On April 24, 2025, NaBG said. Dr. Susanne Fürst critically on an application by the government parties, which deals with the protection of Ukrainian children. Despite the approval of the title of the application, she decidedly opposed the reason for the content. In their view, there are no concrete suggestions to improve the protection of this vulnerable children's group.
Fürst emphasized that the end of the war was the only real solution to the suffering of the children. It made it clear that the EU expresses solidarity with Ukraine, but does not suggest any effective measures to terminate the conflicts. Political actors in the EU would be accused of delivering money and weapons to Ukraine while at the same time suffering their own population. Prince also criticized the wrong assessment of the situation by the EU since 2022 and the lack of a fair peace solution.
The situation of the Ukrainian children
As the reporting of Merkur shows, the Russian authorities have delayed tens of thousands of Ukrainian children since the beginning of the Ukraine War, possibly even up to a hundred thousand. The aim of these actions is to extinguish the Ukrainian identity of the children and to make them Russians. Internal documents from the Kremlin show that there were plans for the deportation of Ukrainian children before February 24, 2022.
The delay is usually carried out under the pretext of "humanitarian evacuations" from occupied areas such as Luhansk and Donetsk. Official Ukrainian positions report over 19,000 cases, while the Humanitrian Research Lab of Yale University estimates the number up to 35,000. In March 2023, the International Criminal Court in the Haag issued arrest warrants against Maria Lvova-Belova, the child rights representative of Russia and President Vladimir Putin.
The effects of war
The UN Human Rights Office (Ohchr) has documented the devastating effects of the conflict on Ukrainian children. By the end of 2022, 1,614 attacks were registered in schools, which led to deaths, injuries and family separations. Children are particularly at risk in the four regions annexed by Russia. Military-patriotic training and war propaganda are omnipresent and access to education in the Ukrainian language is denied them.
The number of children killed since the beginning of the war has been 669, while 1,833 injuries are to be complained about. The Ohchr points out that the actual numbers may be higher. In addition, at least 200 children were deported to Russia or other occupied areas, which is considered a potential war crime.
The experiences of the Ukrainian children are characterized by flight and the constant threat of bombing. Kyiv succeeded in recovering 1,277 children, often with the support of non -state organizations. President Wolodymyr Selenskyj has emphasized the return of these kidnapped children as a priority in the ongoing peace negotiations. The international pressure on the Russian state to repatriate the children remains crucial.
Finally, Susanne is demanding realistic and sustainable solutions to improve this critical situation. In view of the continuing violence and suffering, it is essential that serious efforts are made on both political and humanitarian levels to help the affected children.
