Salzburg's women's football: successful start of the season and promising talents!
The Red Bull Salzburg women's football team successfully started the first season and won the first Bundesliga game with a 2-0 win against Blau-Weiß Linz/Kleinmünchen. Coach Dusan Pavlovic emphasizes that the team is characterized by positive energy and that is good in the early stages of the new season. The next challenge is waiting next Sunday, September 14th, with the home premiere against Altach in the Academy in Liefering.
Captain Lucia Orkic plays a central role in the team, while the 18-year-old Greta Spinn shone at the first competitive goal for the Salzburg women. The striker Vina Crnoja was also able to show convincing services both in the cup and the league start and seems to be a potential top scorer. In addition, the only 16-year-old Sara Grabovac has been a regular staff since the beginning of the women's football project at Red Bull. Another talented player, Alessia Pamminger, is currently injured.
Growth in women's football
In parallel to the successful opening of the season in Salzburg, FIFA has published the second edition of the Benchmarking Report "Setting the Pace". This study analyzes crucial factors that promote the positive development of leagues and clubs in women's football. The results are based on data from 30 leading women's football leagues and 294 clubs worldwide and show significant changes since the first edition in May 2021.
The report deals with various topics such as sports, leadership, finance, players and fan participation. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasizes the immense importance of the clubs for the development of football and demands an increase in the available data in this area. In addition, FIFA provides the clubs and leagues a valuable resource to be able to make well-founded decisions and to further support their growth and development potential.
Elvira Brenner from FIFA emphasizes that the exchange of specialist knowledge and regular analyzes of women's football should be continued in order to further promote and develop the support of women's football worldwide.
