Fatal accident in Eferding: 36-year-old dies after horror crash!
On September 25, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Eferding, Upper Austria. A 36-year-old man from the Eferding district lost control of his vehicle around 1 a.m. while he was driving on the B 129 towards Eferding. At kilometer 23.15, his car veered off the road to the left for unknown reasons and fell down a meadow about two meters deep. There the vehicle collided with a garden fence and overturned before coming to rest on the roof on the street. Despite immediate resuscitation attempts by the emergency medical team, the driver succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident, as 5min.at reported.
A following driver alerted the emergency services, but the emergency doctors' efforts were unsuccessful. This accident is part of alarming statistics: numerous traffic accidents with personal injuries are registered in Austria every year. These accidents are recorded by police authorities and are transmitted to Statistics Austria by the Federal Ministry of the Interior in order to ensure continuous monitoring of the accident. This should lead to an improvement in road safety and prevention measures, as Statistik Austria shows.

The 36-year-old's tragic incident is not the first fatal accident in Eferding in recent months. On June 2, 2025, a six-year-old boy was hit by a Linzer Lokalbahn train at an unbarred level crossing. The accident happened in front of his family while the railroad crossing light flashed red. The boy apparently overlooked the signal and entered the danger zone. The fire department had to lift the train with lifting bags to rescue the child, but the boy died at the scene of the accident, which further underlines the tragedy of the incident rosenheim24.de reported.
In the case of the train accident, a rescue helicopter was canceled due to the child's hopeless situation. Several Red Cross teams and an emergency doctor were deployed to deal with the situation. A crisis intervention team looked after the relatives as well as around 30 other people who were present at the time of the accident, including passengers and train crew.
Both incidents highlight the dangerous conditions on road and rail transport and the need to increase safety in such dangerous areas. The population is becoming increasingly aware of the risks associated with traffic volumes and the respective infrastructure conditions.
