Linz is upside down: LIVA receives new leadership after the Kerschbaum affair!
In a press conference on Friday afternoon, April 11, 2025, the new management of the Linz event company LIVA was presented. This new appointment became necessary after the former director Dietmar Kerschbaum was dismissed in the wake of the Brucknerhaus affair. LIVA, which includes, among other things, the Brucknerhaus, the Posthof, the Kuddelmuddel children's cultural center and various sports facilities, is now looking for both an artistic and a commercial manager.
The interim artistic direction is currently being taken over by Johanna Möslinger, while lawyer Alexander Stefan has commercial responsibility. 18 applicants from home and abroad applied for the artistic direction, while 40 applications were received for the commercial management. The shortlist of candidates has already been invited to a selection hearing. The decision on the new appointment will be announced by Mayor Dietmar Prammer (SPÖ) and the chairman of the LIVA supervisory board, Meinhard Lukas.
Exchange in the art and culture scene
The panel participants included renowned personalities such as Sheri Avraham, artist and board member of IG Bildende Kunst, and Eva Kohout from the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport. The event was moderated by Gitti Vasicek and Oona Valarie Serbest and discussed the innovative database newsbase.at, which offers a wide range of tenders from public and private sources. This platform aims to make it easier for artists to access funding opportunities.
The developments at LIVA and the discussions about art funding underline the dynamic situation of the cultural institutions in Linz and throughout Austria. The upcoming changes and new challenges require a comprehensive strategy to continue to strengthen the cultural scene and offer artists a worthy framework for their work.
