On July 7, 2025, she suffered an inner bleeding in Faak am See, which was due to a serious complication after a planned intervention in the lower abdomen. With an Instagram video she informed her followers about her health and explained that she was now better.

Vadlau had taken the hospital independently after perceiving the first symptoms. "I went to the operation on foot," she reported, emphasizing that she would have been very lucky because another treatment situation might have been life -threatening. On Sunday evening, after the operation, she expressed gratitude for the support and good wishes that she received from her community. "That's how far I go," she added.

Lara Vadlau is not only known for her sporting success, but also for her professional career as a neo-doctor. She is currently completing her base year in the hospital in Villach. She describes her first months in medical training as stressful but positive because she is faced with many appointments. In addition, she was awarded for her sporting commitment, as a "athlete of the year" in Carinthia and part of Austria's "Team of the Year" after winning the first gold medal for Carinthia at the Olympic Games in August 2024.
