Crocodile alarm on Lake Constance: appearance or reality?

on Lake Constance in Constance caused a surprising find for excitement on Friday morning. At around 8 a.m., a walker discovered a crocodile head that was motionless in a pool. This sighting led to a large -scale deployment by the police and fire brigade, which were immediately alerted. The riverside path was closed, while the emergency services moved out to secure the situation under safety precautions and exclude possible dangers.

The fire brigade immersed in the water under safety precautions, equipped with nets and ropes, to recover the supposed reptile. Finally, a loop around the crocodile head was placed with a long rod. The excitement among the emergency services and the residents was great when it turned out that it was not a real crocodile, but a deceptively genuinely real dummy made of robust plastic, which was attached to a stone to prevent an abortion. The crocodile was so realistic that it put the first witnesses in horror.

Investigations into the origin of the dummy

After the fire brigade recovered the dummy, it handed it over to the police for further clarification. The investigation into the origin of the joke article was immediately accepted. It is strange that the presumed owner of the police reported to pick up the dummy on the same morning. The answer to the question of whether it will be held accountable for alarming large -scale use remains uncertain. In the past there have been similar incidents, such as in 2021, when a fabric crocodile called "Felix" caused a stir in the same bay.

The fire brigade commented on the incident with a joke: they are usually more busy getting cats from trees than catching crocodiles out of the water. Nevertheless, the police emphasized that there was never any danger to the population and that all security measures were observed.

a look into the past

The excitement for crocodiles is not new in Germany. Another example is the search for a crocodile near the Unstrut in Saxony-Anhalt, where a comprehensive operational measure was initiated after several sightings had been reported. Ultimately, it turned out that the supposed crocodile, after an intensive search with boats and even a helicopter, was only a plush toy. There, too, there were security measures for residents for weeks after Kot was found, but which came from a fox.

The alarming incidents related to crocodiles and their dummies raise questions: How do such objects get into the waters, and how should the public react to these not unusual jokes? The investigation in Constance may clarify these questions, while the residents can look forward to a quieter weekend without worrying about a crocodile in the pool.
