Renovation of the L21 in Dellach: 600,000 euros for new security!

From Monday, March 17, 2025, the L21 Würmlacher Straße in the Dellach/Gail area will be extensively renovated. The reason for this is the numerous excavation work in recent years, which has led to the roads being in poor condition. As part of the spring construction offensive, as reported by LHStv. Martin Gruber announced that around 600,000 euros will be invested in renewing the 460 meter long section of road. “The current road structure is not frost-proof and the drainage is inadequate,” explains Gruber. This will increase road safety in the long term by building a new, continuous sidewalk next to the road to ensure the safety of all road users, reports the Gailtal Journal.

Construction work and traffic disruptions

The construction work includes a half-way road closure, and the section will be completely closed during the asphalting work. Diversions take place via the L21 Würmlacher Straße, the L24 Gailtal Schattseitenstraße and the B111 Gailtalstraße. Completion of the construction work is scheduled for June 27, 2025. These measures are part of the larger initiative, which also includes the Carinthian Regional Development Act (K-REG 2023), which aims to promote strong and vital regions, as LHStv. Gruber explained in a recent speech. Over the year, 281 projects were defined for Carinthia's regions, with a funding volume of 18.5 million euros, resulting in a local investment turnover of over 32 million euros, according to information from State of Carinthia.
