New playground in Wayerfeldpark: A paradise for children and families!
On August 22, 2025, a new playground and a renovated fun court were ceremoniously opened in Wayerfeldpark in St. Veit. The event attracted numerous guests and families who were able to marvel at the innovations in the modernized park. In his speech, Mayor Martin Kulmer emphasized the importance of Wayerfeld Park as a place of joy and exercise for children and young people. The total investment in the renovation measures amounted to 183,755 euros, of which 45,000 euros represented support from the state of Carinthia.
The new attractions in Wayerfeldpark include a balance track and a larger climbing and playhouse, which are intended to appeal to both little adventurers and those who are active in sports. In addition, three new seating sets and comfortable loungers were set up in sunny areas to offer visitors opportunities to relax. The park design was rounded off by setting up additional garbage bins and bicycle racks.
Renovation of the fun court
The renovation of the fun court was another part of the renovation work in Wayerfeldpark. This area is particularly important for young people's sporting activities. The fun court is intended to serve as a versatile place for exercise and interaction. The investments in this area are part of a larger plan to improve leisure activities for young people in the region, which was highlighted by State Councilor Daniel Fellner.
A central element of the planning was taking the needs of children and young people into account. The game planning, which is carried out in several phases, ensures that informal game locations and meeting points are included in the decision-making process. In this way, the possibilities for securing and further developing play and recreation rooms are specifically explored. This planning is a significant step for community development and is intended to ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs of young people.
The renovation work in Wayerfeldpark shows how important it is to design public spaces for the community. The investments should take into account the needs of children and young people as well as the entire population in order to create a space for encounters and exercise.
