Autumn magic in Lower Austria: Discover the show gardens 2025!

On the weekends of September 20 and 21, 2025, the garden world in Lower Austria is placed in the spotlight as part of the "Nature in the Garden". For the third time this year, the event is under the motto "Herbstzauber" and opens the doors to a total of 99 show gardens. Visitors can expect an exciting program with tours, garden stories, creative ideas for natural gardening and numerous useful tips for their own gardens. noe.gv.at reports that all show gardens implement the core criteria of "nature in the garden": The use of chemical-synthetic crop protection and fertilizers and peat is excluded.

Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasizes the close connection between natural garden care, environmental, climate and species protection, as well as aesthetics. This event offers an excellent opportunity to get to know the ecological diversity of Lower Austrian garden culture, which is also open to visitors outside of the show garden days. Further information on opening times and events is available in the show garden calendar, which can be found on naturimgarten.at.

Competition and visitor feedback

A special highlight is the competition that is related to the visit of five different show gardens. With their collective pass, participants can get the chance of free entry or a garden book. In addition, a garden summer weekend for two people is raffled off under all submissions. Anyone who gives feedback on your visit has the opportunity to win attractive prizes, including two nights in the Kittenberger Chalets, two admissions for the Gold Tour in the "World of Styx" and five book packages.

Near -natural gardening

In keeping with the show garden days, the question arises how garden owners can make their green areas as close to as possible. According to bund.net it is recommended to avoid pesticides and peat fertilizer and peat-containing earth. Instead, organic seeds and domestic varieties should be encouraged to strengthen the biodiversity of the gardens.

A varied design of the garden is not only an advantage for the plants, but also for animals such as bees and butterflies. Mixed culture and crop rotation help with gardening without chemical aids. In addition, “wild corners” in the garden can create habitats for a variety of animals and support pollination. The correct plant selection draws useful animals to the garden, which naturally contribute to pest control.

For more information and details about the 99 show gardens, interested visitors are invited to visit the show garden calendar on naturimgarten.at. Carina Pürer, press spokeswoman, is also available for questions on 0676 848 790 737 and by email to carina.puerer@naturimgarten.at.
