Dramatic death on the set of Emily in Paris - filming continues!

On August 24, 2025, during the filming of the fifth season of the popular Netflix series “Emily in Paris” in Venice, a tragic incident occurred that had a significant impact on production. Assistant director Diego Borella, 47, suffered a heart attack on set at the Hotel Danieli and could not be saved despite immediate medical attention.

Borella collapsed during preparations for a scene and despite immediate first measures, including a defibrillator, all attempts at resuscitation failed. Rescue workers and carabinieri arrived at 6:42 p.m., but Borella was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. In a statement, Paramount Television Studios expressed its deep condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
