Thierry Bader is moving to the ZSC Lions: A new star in the sky!
An exciting change is coming to the Swiss ice hockey scene! Thierry Bader, the son of Austrian national coach Roger Bader, will be Vinzenz Rohrer's teammate at the ZSC Lions from next season. This decision, which will be officially announced on Tuesday, marks a significant step in Bader's career. The 27-year-old signed a three-year contract that ties him to the Lions until the 2027/28 season. Bader, who played last season at SC Bern, where he had another Austrian, Benjamin Baumgartner, as a teammate, brings valuable experience from 394 games in the Swiss National League, in which he scored 33 goals and 59 assists Laola1 reported.
What sets Bader apart from many other players is his versatility. He can be used both as a winger and as a center and plays in both the power play and the box play. Sports director Sven Leuenberger describes him as a “good runner, technically strong and with a lot of speed”. These qualities make Bader a valuable addition to the Lions, where he can look forward to an exciting season, especially after his participation in the Karjala Cup with the Swiss national team, where he played all three games. Although he was in the squad for the 2024 World Cup in the Czech Republic, he was denied a role because Kevin Fiala arrived late ZSC Lions reported.
Thierry Bader has already secured the Swiss Cup twice in his career: in 2017 with Kloten and in 2021 with Bern. His move to the ZSC Lions could be the next big step in his career, and with teammate Vinzenz Rohrer at his side, there is a lot of potential for a successful season!
