Voluntary heroines: white angels excellent for humanity

Anna Baumann, Romana Kopf and Claudia Schlachter - these three remarkable women from Ostallgäu have received the coveted "white angel"! At a solemn ceremony in Günzburg, they were honored for their extraordinary voluntary work in the areas of health, care and prevention. This award is awarded annually to citizens in Bavaria who work tirelessly for the common good.

The Minister of State Judith Gerlach, who could not be present personally due to an important Bundestag debate, praised the tireless "white angels" in a press release. "In challenging times like these, they are role models for lived humanity," she said. Gerlach emphasized that there are many people who, despite the uncertainties, take responsibility and take care of others. These committed citizens make an invaluable contribution to our society.

Engagement in Bavaria

In Bavaria, more than 40 percent of over 14 year olds are committed to the common good. Gerlach emphasizes that volunteering not only holds society together, but also has a positive impact on one's own health. "It is fulfilling to do something meaningful and to be needed," said the minister. The contact with others in volunteering brings a double profit for everyone involved.

The "White Angel" award is awarded in every administrative district and appreciates the diverse activities of the honored, who are involved in home care, in the visiting service in retirement homes and in the hospice work. These women are living examples of how individual commitment the world can make a bit better!
