New student residence in Flensburg: 159 places for students!
A new chapter for students is opening in Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein! A brand new student residence will open on the European University campus on Monday, providing much-needed housing options for students. With an impressive price tag of almost 13 million euros, largely financed by the state, this hall of residence will offer 159 students an affordable home from February 2025.
But the situation remains tense: Despite this new accommodation, there are still 300 students on the waiting list for one of the 500 apartments in Flensburg. This is the third hall of residence that has been opened in the last seven years and it clearly shows how great the housing shortage is for students in the region. The opening of the new dormitory is an important step in alleviating the pressing housing problems that affect many students in Schleswig-Holstein.
A ray of hope for students
The opening of the new dormitory is not only a structural measure, but also a glimmer of hope for many young people who are looking for a place to live. The increasing numbers of waiting lists illustrate the urgency of this initiative. With this project, the Schleswig-Holstein Student Union has made a significant contribution to improving the living situation and shows that the students' challenges are taken seriously.
