Trump supports Ukraine on Independence Day: Zelensky optimistic

President Donald Trump has sent Ukraine a support letter in which he praised the country's courage and emphasizes that the United States believe in an independent future of Ukraine. This happened on the occasion of the annual day of explaining independence from the Soviet rule.

Trump's embassy on Independence Day

Trump's letter was shared by President Wolodymyr Selenskyj on X when he sent his own message to the Ukrainian people: "We won't lose." Other world leaders, including the Chinese President Xi Jinping, King Charles III. of Great Britain and Pope Leo XIV, sent greeting messages that day, which is characterized by stagnating peace talks, while Russian President Vladimir Putin signals his will to the constant fight.

Visiting the Canadian Prime Minister

The Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney took the opportunity to complete his first official visit to Ukraine. He explained to X that the support of Canada for Kiev was "unshakable" and that "every step on the way to defend sovereignty" is on the side of Ukraine.

Trump's support for diplomatic solutions

Keith Kellogg, the Messenger of the Trump administration for Russia and Ukraine, also took part in the ceremony for the Independence Day in Kiev. Trump's message comes only days after his statements that he would give Putin "a few weeks" time, and thus extended his deadline for possible consequences against Moscow after he had pushed the Russian guide to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart to end the war.

Appeal for peace

In his letter, Trump wrote: "The people of Ukraine has an unbreakable spirit, and the courage of their country inspires many. On this important day, they know that the United States respect their struggle, honor their victims and believe in their future as an independent nation."

"Now is the moment to end the senseless killing. The United States supports a negotiated solution that leads to a permanent peace that ends the bloodshed and protects the sovereignty and dignity of Ukraine," added Trump.

Selenskyj's answer

Selenskyj thanked Trump for his message and addressed his own speech to the Ukrainians. He explained that the country will still celebrate its independence day in a hundred years. "Ukraine is stronger and has self -inspection. And Ukraine is not waiting for the gestures of good will, but becomes active itself to achieve what is necessary for us," he said.

The way to the future

"Today's Ukraine is. And such Ukraine will never be forced to endure the shame in history, which the Russians call 'compromise'. We ask for a just peace. Our future is decided solely by us, and the world knows that," added Selenskyj.

With regard to the latest discussions with Trump and the European leaders about a peace plan for Ukraine, Selenskyj said: "Ukraine has not yet won completely, but it will not lose. Ukraine has secured its independence. Ukraine is not a victim; it is not bedders. Ukraine does not offer alliance and partnership."

Attacks on the eve of independence day

On the eve of Independence Day, Russia started 72 drones and a ballistic rocket against Ukraine, most of which were shot down, as the Ukrainian air forces reported. Heavy bombings continued in recent days, despite Trump's earlier meeting with Putin in Alaska, which ended without a concrete agreement.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that 95 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft (UAVS) were destroyed in various areas last night. One of these UAVs was shot down near the Kursk nuclear power plant, with detonating the impact and damaging a transformer.

The background radiation on the industrial area has not changed, and a local fire "was deleted by firefighters", added the power plant responsible.
