Scandal for police officers: Data from radar boxes deleted 29 times!
An incredible scandal now shakes the police: a 55-year-old officer illegally deletes 29 times radar data over two years! As ORF TIROL , this police officer not only undermined the legal punishment by removing the speed violations, but also prevented around 1,700 euros in punitive money. The official confesses to his actions and states that he had acted out of a courtesy. Now he is threatened with a prison sentence of up to five years in the event of a guilty verdict, while an appointment for the main hearing is still pending.
But that's not the only alarming news from the traffic world. The Federal Statistical Office reports an increase in traffic accidents and deaths in road traffic in Germany. In August 2024, around 35,600 people were injured, which means an increase of 6 % compared to the previous year. The number of traffic fats rose by 14 to a total of 281. Despite a decline in the registered accidents, the situation remains worrying. In the period from January to August 2024, the authorities counted a total of 1.6 million road traffic accidents, including 192,000 with personal injury, in which 1,837 people had to die, such as Destatis announced.
The sad numbers show that traffic safety in Germany remains an urgent problem. While the world of traffic monitoring of scandals such as this investigative attitude is characterized, safe road traffic is more on the brink than ever. It remains to be seen whether the competent authorities are able to master the growing challenges and to increase security for all road users.
