Stuttgart wins silver in the city ranking – Munich remains undefeated!

Stuttgart, the vibrant state capital of Baden-Württemberg, has secured the silver medal in the latest city ranking from “Wirtschaftswoche”! But the dream of first place remains unfulfilled, because their eternal rival Munich is once again at the top. Is Stuttgart doomed to always only take second place? The city, known for its automotive industry with giants such as Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, has moved up one place compared to last year and outperforms all other major German cities - except one.

The ranking, which was published on November 15th, evaluates 72 German cities with over 100,000 inhabitants. Stuttgart shines in the economic performance category and secures first place here! The city comes in third place in the competitive housing category. Mayor Frank Nopper (CDU) is optimistic: “These assessments give cause for optimism, which in difficult times must be wide-awake optimism.” Despite these successes, the shadow of Munich remains over the city, which visibly bothers Nopper.

Stuttgart: Becoming the start-up capital of Germany!

While Stuttgart once again lags behind Munich in the city ranking, the city has made a remarkable rise in another ranking. According to a study by “Wirtschaftswoche”, Stuttgart has developed into the start-up capital of Germany, overtaking hip Berlin. This development shows that Stuttgart is on the rise not only in terms of economic strength, but also in terms of innovation. However, the competition between the two southern German cities remains tense, and the question remains: Can Stuttgart one day conquer the place in the sun?
