An exciting step in the digital revolution: the town of Owingen is the first winner in the race for lightning-fast internet! As part of the ambitious broadband funding project of the Bodenseekreis Broadband Association (ZVBB), the first of ten communities was officially put into operation - a triumph for those who had to wait a long time for a fast connection.
Around 24 months after the groundbreaking ceremony, Owingen is now shining in the splendor of the new fiber optic network. The official commissioning at the beginning of October not only marks the completion of this first phase, but also sets a strong example for the future. TeleData, the strong partner in this project, proudly reports on the support from the federal government and the state of Baden-Württemberg, which have provided millions in funding. This will bring households once plagued by slow internet speeds out of the digital Stone Age!
Next challenge: gray spots
The joy is great! But Owingen is just the beginning. Managing director Bernhard Schultes of the association spoke enthusiastically about an “important step towards a comprehensive digital infrastructure”. Mayor Henrik Wengert praised the speedy construction despite adverse weather conditions and the excellent cooperation of everyone involved. Now it's time to tackle the next phase with full vigor: the so-called "grey spots" are on the agenda - households that are currently using internet speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s. These should also be connected to the fast network by the end of 2025.
The digital future beckons and the Bodenseekreis shows that it is ready to take on the challenge. It will be exciting to see how quickly other communities will follow suit to enjoy high-speed internet!
