Change at the SPÖ tip: Max Lercher follows Anton Lang!

In a surprising turn, the SPÖ announced that Anton Lang will resign from his office as the deputy governor. This was confirmed at an request from ORF Styria. Max Lercher, currently regional chairman of the SPÖ Obersteiermark-West, is expected to be a successor. The 38-year-old Murtaler is known as a rebel in the party and has experience from various political offices, including his former role as managing director of the SPÖ at the federal level. Lang's resignation is not unexpectedly because he had already expressed his tiredness after the last State election.

Lang's political career

Anton Lang, born on November 12, 1959 in Leoben, is an experienced politician of the SPÖ. He had been the state council since May 2016 and took over the office of the governor's deputy on December 17, 2019 in the State Government Schützenhöfer II, followed by the State Government Drexler. Lang has been a member of the state parliament since 2008 and has held numerous political offices, including club chairman of the SPÖ-Leoben and Financial City Council.
