Municipal council election 2025: ÖVP and SPÖ at the start in all municipalities

On January 26th, the ÖVP and the SPÖ will be on the ballot paper in the local council election in Kematen. The ÖVP, under the leadership of mayor Juliana Günther, who has been in office since 2005, is running with a 30-person team. Günther will lead the “Team BGM Juliana Günther” list as the top candidate. She is supported by Vice Mayor Walter Lettner and community party leader Ilse Beham in second and third place. The ÖVP currently has 14 mandates, while the SPÖ is represented with seven mandates NOEN reported.

Overall, elections will begin on January 26th in all 45 municipalities in the district. This is notable because there have been cases in the past where only one party was on the ballot. The FPÖ, the Greens and the NEOS have also submitted their candidate lists for the coming election. While the FPÖ is running in almost all municipalities, the Greens are fielding candidates in 15 and the NEOS in eight municipalities. Such a wide range of parties finally gives voters the opportunity to choose from different options, such as NÖN.at describes.
