Interest around the hit hit parade: MDR is changing the rating system!
The “Schlagerhitparade” of the MDR is currently the focus of public discussions. With the new moderator Christin Stark, who has succeeded Bernhard Brink since 2023, the program has experienced a significant change. The changeover of the evaluation system, which was carried out without an official explanation, causes resentment among fans and spectators. Previously, listeners were able to actively vote for their favorite songs, which was replaced by the change in the ranking now introduced to the "Schlager of the Month" list and the "National Conservative Pop" industrial ranking without audience participation. This restructuring has severely restricted the spectators' say and leads to confusion about the actual placements.
The discrepancies in the communication of the MDR increase resentment: While the "Top 10" is spoken in the press text, the ranking is actually based on a top 50 list. So far, the MDR has not responded to public criticism and it remains unclear whether the return to an interactive voting system is considered. The spectators are calling for more transparency and participation for the future to strengthen the connection between the artists and their audience.
The next edition and current placements
In the next issue of the "Schlagerhitparade" on June 6, 2025, the new moderator Christin Stark will again lead through the program. An extensive rating is planned based on the top 50 of the German radio charts. The guests of the show include the emerging artists Pia-Sophie and the winner of the previous edition, Saskia Leppin, who convinced with her hit "Lights, Fire".
PIA-Sophie worked successfully with Daniel Lopes on the single "I can guarantee nothing", which has been number 1 in the German Airplaycharts several times. Unfortunately, due to an illness, Lopes cannot take part in the show. The current top 15 of the "hit hit parade" of June 6, 2025 show the diversity and popularity of the hit stars:

The entertainment show not only offers a platform for established artists, but is also a springboard for new talents. At the same time, the output will also be available in the MDR Mediathek, which offers fans additional way to experience the current edition. Despite the criticism of the new rating system, the "hit hit parade" remains a central institution in the MDR program.
