Vienna creates space: 3,500 new apartments and green oases for everyone!

Eibengasse, Wien, Österreich - In Vienna, major progress in urban development was made today. The Vienna municipal council committee has treated the widespread dedication plans for Eibengasse and the biotope Wildquell. With these plans, the foundation stone is laid for two new urban development areas that are intended to create living space for around 7,000 people. Around two thirds of these new apartments are realized as subsidized apartments, which significantly supports the city to offer affordable living space. These initiatives show the obligation of the city, in particular by the planning and public councilor Ulli Sima, to continuously increase the quality of life in Vienna. This is underpinned by the creation of new parks and infrastructure measures. OTS reports that the focus is on sustainability and quality of life in the new city quarters.

The city district Eibengasse will be built between the Archduke-Karl-Straße and Langobardenstraße, on both sides of the U2. Around 2,600 apartments for up to 6,000 inhabitants are planned here. A public park of approx. 2.5 hectares with natural elements and forest -like planting is to complement the residential complex. Another planned urban development area is the Biotop Wildquell, which is being built at the future S-Bahn station 'Benyastraße'. Around 900 residential units, also two thirds of the apartments, as well as a 3 hectare park with a historical trees and their own source are intended here. In addition, supplementary facilities such as a kindergarten, a day geriatrics and a supermarket are built.

promotion of social residential construction

Vienna is considered a pioneer in social housing and relies on a model that aims to find individual freedom as well as security and reliability in living. According to wien.gv.at lives in funded or community apartments, which in international comparison of the major coup makes preferred place of residence. With this strategy, Vienna has not only made a name for itself, but also established itself as a place of high quality of life, at the same time low housing costs in relation to income.

A strict competition and selection process is used for funded residential projects in Vienna, which takes into account economic, ecological and social sustainability as well as architectural quality. Almost half of the subsidized apartments are currently being built as particularly cheap smart apartments. In addition, it is ensured that at least a third of the new buildings are awarded via the living advice in order to promote social mixing. This can also be seen in the planned 5,500 new apartments by 2025, the number of which has already been raised to 5,700. Wohnberatung-wien.at adds that renovations are also promoted in order to further improve the quality of living in the districts.

income limits and social support

Specific income herself applies to subsidized apartments. In 2025, the limit for an individual is 59,320 euros annually, which corresponds to a monthly income of EUR 4,237.14. When the number of people increases, these limits increase accordingly. For subsidized condominiums, the income limit for an individual is even 67,790 euros annually. These regulations are intended to ensure that needy households in particular receive support and can be accommodated in the funded housing.

With these far -reaching measures, Vienna ensures that both urban development and social residential construction go hand in hand. This not only creates living space, but also upgraded the public space through green areas and infrastructure, which improves the quality of life of the Viennese population.
