Modern swimming pool in Simmering: climate-friendly and inviting!

The new swimming pool in Simmeringer Bad will begin full operation on October 28, 2025. This hall, considered one of the most climate-friendly pools in Vienna, offers a modern ambience with 25-meter lanes that meet the needs of swimming enthusiasts. Jürgen Czernohorszky, Vienna's climate and spa councilor, highlights the importance of bathing culture for the quality of life in the city and emphasizes the environmentally friendly construction of this project. The new swimming pool is part of a comprehensive initiative to improve the city's swimming offerings.

The swimming pool is impressively equipped with a sports pool measuring 25 x 12.5 meters. Changing rooms and sanitary rooms are connected to the existing building via two connecting bridges, while the barrier-free main entrance makes access to both swimming pools easier. As part of the renovation of the existing building, new lounge areas were created.

Climate-friendly features and year-round offerings

The innovative bathing water technology in the new hall enables resource-saving bathing operations. A green roof and a facade, which is also decorated with plants, underline the commitment to climate protection. In addition, a new photovoltaic system with an output of 100 kWp will be installed, which will cover part of the electricity requirement. These eco-initiatives are in line with the goals of the pool construction program 2030, which was launched by Czernohorszky to secure and expand the pool offering for the growing population in Vienna.

Extended training blocks are available, especially for schools and swimming clubs. On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., sports enthusiasts can benefit from special lap swimming times, while on Sundays, additional swimming times can be used for all bathers.

Expansion of the Höpflerbad

The costs for the indoor swimming pool in the Höpflerbad amount to 29 million euros. The aim is to improve the existing offering while meeting the needs of a growing city. The district leader Gerald Bischof emphasizes that the Höpflerbad is not only a place for sporting activities, but also a meeting place for relaxation and community.

These projects are part of the City of Vienna's larger plan to upgrade existing pools and create new leisure opportunities. As part of the 2030 swimming pool construction program, a total of four new swimming pools and numerous renovations of existing facilities are to be realized.

Efforts to create a climate-friendly infrastructure and promote bathing culture have become an integral part of urban development plans. The new and renovated halls will make an important contribution to the quality of life of the Viennese population.
