Again shooting ordinance in Tyrol: Wolf after sheep riss released!
Ellbögen, Österreich - The Tyrolean state government has again issued a shooting regulation for a wolf, this time in the Wipptal. This is done after the find of five dead sheep in an alpine area in Ellbögen, district of Innsbruck-Land. In addition, four other sheep are missing, which indicates the presence of a wolf as the cause, as the local official veterinarian stated. The regulation that came into force immediately applies to eight weeks within a radius of ten kilometers from the site of the sheep. The hunters have already been informed to implement the measures accordingly. According to [oe24.at] (https://www.oe24.at/oesterreich/chronik/noechster-wolf-in-oesterreich-zum-zum-zum--bitt- released, such a launching regulation was issued this year.
Again and again there are conflicts between animal husbandry and the return of the wolves to the Tyrolean Alps. The sheep and goat holder in particular are severely affected by the attacks. The five dead sheep were discovered on Sunday, and another find of a sheep reported on Monday evening. Rehearsals from the sheep were sent to the genetic investigation to the research institute for wildlife and ecology in Vienna to obtain clarity about the polluter, as tirol.gv.at
Wolves and herd protection
The problem of wolf protection is not only limited to Tyrol. In Germany, as emphasized by wolfschutz-deutschland.de, there are also discussions about the return of the wolves and the necessary herd protection for farm animals. While there are measures that ensure partial success in some cases, other animal species such as cattle and cows remain in a critical condition. It becomes clear that, despite its protected status, the wolf is repeatedly conflicting with agriculture.
in 2023 several shooting regulations had already been issued in Tyrol. In addition to the current in Wipptal, there are two more in East Tyrol, two in the Ötztal and one in the Stubai Valley and in the Tyrolean lowlands. The population is also called on to report the sightings of wolves in order to be able to react faster if necessary and to get a better understanding of wolf population in the regions.
