Millions donated by an ex-FPÖ man: AfD becomes a peace party?
A former FPÖ official made a huge party donation of around 2.35 million euros to the AfD, as noted on the German Bundestag's list of party donations. This sum was transferred on February 1, 2025. The official in question, Andreas Dingler, explained in a statement that he did not make any cash donations to the AfD, but rather provided 6,400 election posters for the upcoming federal elections on February 23rd. Dingler justified his support with worrying developments in the Ukraine war and sees the AfD as the only party that is credibly committed to peace, reported vienna.at.
The donation caused great excitement in Austria. The Vorarlberg SPÖ mandate Reinhold Einwallner joined the critical voices and pointed out that this donation was clear evidence that the FPÖ in Vorarlberg operates on the right-wing edge of the political spectrum, similar to the federal party. Einwallner sees the danger posed by a possible coalition with the Freedom Party as extremely threatening to the basic democratic values in Austria Vorarlberg.orf.at reported.
