Bludenzer Sparkassenplatz: Construction work almost completed – Ikarus returns

The city of Bludenz is showing progress on the Sparkassenplatz construction project, which recently reached significant milestones. The paving work has been finalized and workers are currently carrying out the final clean-up work. Due to these developments, Untersteinstrasse, which borders the intersection with Sparkassenplatz, can be reopened to traffic at short notice.

However, the overall project is not yet completed. As planned, traffic will be closed again next week, from October 7th to 13th, so that the final surface finish can be applied. It is expected that Untersteinstrasse will be accessible again without interruption from mid-October, which will bring the construction project to completion in its main phase. Smaller work, such as planting trees and installing benches, is scheduled for November.

Return of Icarus

Another welcome update concerns the return of the statue of Icarus. This beautiful marble figure, created by Herbert Albrecht, was erected in Bludenz as part of the celebrations for the Suchard's 100th anniversary. In June, the statue was dismantled to make way for construction and now, after a thorough cleaning and preparation, it is back in its original location in front of the courthouse.

The essential information on the structural development and the return of Icarus is compiled. These events underline the city administration's progress and commitment to the beautification and expansion of public space in Bludenz. Official reporting published on October 1, 2024 highlights how important these developments are for the city. It will be exciting to see how the area will come into its own after the final work is completed in November.
