A current analysis of the FTI monitor 2025 shows that Austria has improved in the key technologies such as photonics, advanced materials and quantum technology, but remains with the international competitiveness and the frequency of the patents behind leading countries such as Switzerland, the USA and Japan. Artificial intelligence is particularly emphasized as a future -oriented technology. Currently, around 20 % of Austrian companies with ten employees use at least one AI technology, which is above the EU average, but remains under the performance of the innovation leader Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the Netherlands.
The results of the FTI monitor directly affect the development of theFTI strategy 2030that aims to make Austria an innovation leader in a European context by 2030. To achieve this goal, the need to create successful framework conditions and to offer targeted support in the field of artificial intelligence.
