Charity cabaret in Hofstätten: Together for people with disabilities
A very special cabaret event took place in the municipality of Hofstätten an der Raab on October 25, 2024 to benefit the disabled self-help group (BSG) Hartberg - Fürstenfeld. This charity event, which was organized for the first time in the entire Eastern Styria, was intended to help expand the activities of the non-profit association. The cabaret artist Seppi Neubauer, known for his humorous programs, performed in a community center that was filled to capacity and ensured an amusing and at the same time meaningful night.
The chairman of the BSG, Stefan Plantl, has been in a wheelchair since an accident 13 years ago and also lives in this community. This personal connection and commitment are of great importance not only to him, but also to the entire organization. Together with Mayor Werner Höfler, who was present with his wife Andrea, numerous sponsors and interested citizens were able to make supportive contributions.
Background of the event
The disabled self-help group Hartberg – Fürstenfeld has existed since 1980 and has more than 400 members. The association is financed through donations, which are generated, among other things, through various charity events and sales of homemade products. A popular event is the sale of tickets at the Hartberg Oktoberfest, the proceeds of which also benefit the self-help group.
The funds collected aim to help people with disabilities and their families. The association runs an information office in Hartberg and offers a website called sperrfreierurlaub.at, which is specifically tailored to the needs of people with disabilities. Another important part of the association's work is raising awareness among children and young people in schools about the topic of inclusion. The BSG is often the first point of contact and supports affected people and their relatives in all situations. This includes the provision of rental equipment and various offers aimed at enabling participation in society.
Seppi Neubauer's popularity attracted numerous visitors, including many people who are dependent on a wheelchair. This inclusive atmosphere of the event impressively shows how important the commitment to and support of people with disabilities is in society in general.
Sponsors and supporters
The event received support from various sponsors who contributed to its successful implementation. Great companies such as Pichler Wohnbau, Rosenberger Installateur, Arian Druckerei, Tischlerei Knittelfelder, Feistritzwerke AG and Raiffeisenbank Gleisdorf stood behind this great campaign with their names and financial help. The warehouse and GRAWE also contributed to making the event possible and raising awareness of the needs of people with disabilities.
The association's representatives emphasized that 100% of all proceeds from the event go to people in the region, which further underlines the community spirit and support for those affected. It once again became clear how important such initiatives are in drawing attention to the challenges faced by people with disabilities and promoting their integration into society. The participation of so many people in this charity event shows that support for the BSG goes far beyond financial means - it is also a sign of solidarity and understanding towards an often marginalized group.
