Seniors skeptical: Ivote shows opinion on grandparents' care
A current Ivote survey shows that seniors are skeptical of grandparents' leave. While young adults support the idea, approval in the 60+ generation is low. The opinion in Styria is discussed.
Seniors skeptical: Ivote shows opinion on grandparents' care
In Styria, a current survey ensures conversation, because it shows that the attitude of the seniors for so-called grandparents is rather critical. Almost 10,000 people took part in the decision -making aid IVote, which was launched two weeks ago.
The proposal stipulates that grandparents take care of their grandchildren so that the parents can work full -time. You will receive a bonus of childcare allowance. While around 60 percent of the IVOTE participants are enthusiastic about the idea, the older generations are cautious. The consent of 20 to 29 year olds is 72 percent, but it is less than 50 percent for over 60 year olds.
The opinion of the elderly
Wolfgang Bachmayer, the head of OGM, who is responsible for the IVote survey, explains that younger people want relief in everyday life. At the same time, there is a desire to help childcare among older generations - but without any pressure or obligations.
Another important point is childcare in Styria. At the moment, only 20 percent of the toddlers between the ages of 0 and 2 are looked after in a day care center, which is the lowest value in the entire state. Bachmayer notes that there is probably a need to catch up here.
Bachmayer also emphasizes that although Ivote is not a representative survey, the high number of participants gives valuable insights into the opinions of the population of Styria. The survey covers over 40 topics in which the participants indicate whether they are or against it and how important these topics appear to them. It becomes clear that political opinions are strongly influenced by personal values and general political attitudes.
