Fast journey ends abruptly: 19-year-old with driving license stopped in Wies
On Friday afternoon, around 4:30 p.m., a 19-year-old driver with a probationary license was stopped in the small town of Wies, which is in the Deutschlandsberg district, for seriously exceeding the speed limit. Local police officers were conducting speed checks when they noticed a vehicle traveling at 124 km/h. This speed is well above the permitted limit, especially in town.
The young man was not only going too fast, but also initially ignored the police's attempts to stop him after overtaking another car. He braked briefly, but then continued driving. This led to the police officers following him until he was finally stopped in a parking lot about a kilometer away.
Driver's license and vehicle confiscated
During the subsequent check it turned out that the 19-year-old had not consumed any alcohol, which was confirmed by a negative breathalyzer test. Nevertheless, his driver's license was revoked on the spot. In addition, the Deutschlandsberg district administration ordered that the driver's vehicle be temporarily confiscated and taken away by a towing company. The driver now has to prepare for a display.
These incidents shed light on the importance of adhering to speed limits, particularly in residential areas where the safety of pedestrians and other road users is a top priority. The police measures are aimed at punishing such dangerous behavior and making the streets safer. Further details about this incident can be found here.
