Summer vacation in Lower Austria: fun and nature for the whole family!
The summer vacation in Lower Austria is offering a colorful program for children and families this year. The "Nature in the Garden" initiative invites you to experience nature and learn playfully. This is also emphasized by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who emphasizes the importance of movement and environmental awareness. The events in the show gardens are designed to promote creativity and to raise awareness of nature.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, many of them are free of charge or in admission. The show gardens also offer inspiration for ecological garden design as well as shady picnic areas and regional delicacies. Guests are continuously up to October to take part in the show gardens on a garden safari.
diverse program items and highlights
The holiday program in the show gardens offers numerous highlights: On August 3. the event "Pähkikel-Froschkönig & Unkenschruf" will take place in the Eckartsau Schlosspark, followed by the holiday program in the Schlossorth National Park Center on August 7th. Another highlight is the child Sunday on August 10th at the Tulln garden. There will also be two events on August 14th: "Pays - wide wings, long ears" in Eckartsau Castle and "Climate and I" in the underwater kingdom of Schrems.
On August 17th, "Paying - Super Trees, Superpowers" in Eckartsau Castle is on the program, and on August 20, children can let their imagination run free at the creative course "Dotted Mandala" in the Waldviertel Art Museum. The family painting in the sculpture park of the Waldviertel art museum takes place on August 23, and on the same day the Hun Festival is also celebrated in the Mamuz Schloss Asparn/Zaya. August will be rounded off with another "spy" event on August 24th in Eckartsau Castle.
show garden days and the garden world discover
In addition to the holiday programs, the 2025 show garden days also take place where visitors have the opportunity to explore the diversity of the garden world. These can be spread over three appointments: On May 17th and 18th, there will be the "spring joys", followed by the "summer lust" on June 14th and 15th as well as the "autumn magic" on September 20 and 21. During these days, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the gardens and collect tips for their own garden.
The commitment to the environment has been funded by the “Nature in the Garden” initiative since 1998 in Lower Austria. This has set itself the task of supporting ecological and natural gardening and is considered a showcase campaign in Europe. Over 18,500 gardens have already been awarded the "Nature in the Garden" badge and show a wide range of styles, including private house gardens and historical systems.
