Ski World Cup: Meillard crowned champion, Feller disappointed!
In an exciting final of the men's slalom at the World Ski Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, the Swiss Loic Meillard secured the gold medal. The silver medal went to Atle Lie McGrath of Norway, while Germany's Linus Strasser won the bronze medal. The Austrian hopes lay with Manuel Feller, who was temporarily in the lead after a promising performance, but ultimately slipped to an ungrateful fourth place. Fabio Gstrein also had a chance of a top placement after a solid start, but had to settle for eighth place, as reported by 5min.at.
The disappointment of these two athletes is reflected in the entire Austrian team. Dominik Raschner reached 19th place after improving in the second run, while Marco Schwarz had to abandon the race early and was classified as Did Not Finish (DNF) after slipping on the inside ski. What is particularly noteworthy is that the 2024 Ski World Cup Finals will take place in Saalbach from March 16th to 24th. This event is seen as a dress rehearsal for the 2025 World Ski Championships and promises to be exciting with eight races and a demanding program that includes both technical disciplines and speed races, as ski areas-test.at reports.

The first races will take place on March 16th and 17th after qualified athletes have already been determined. Only the top 25 participants in each discipline as well as junior world champions take part, making the competition even more intense. The grand finale will be divided into different disciplines and changes to start times are possible at any time. These events are of great importance to the athletes as they secure points towards the overall standings and can show the athletes' form before important competitions such as the World Championships.
