Palfinger is investing 70 million euros in a new location in Slovenia

The well -known Salzburg crane manufacturer Palfinger has exciting plans that could change the industrial landscape in Slovenia. With an investment of 70 million euros, a new production location in the small town of Ormož is to be created, supported by significant promotion of the Slovenian state. This funding could make up to 30 percent of the amount of investment, which corresponds to between 15 and 20 million euros, as the StA news agency reports.

In a ceremony that took place today, Minister of Economics Matjaž Han, Palfinger-Coo Alexander Susanek and the mayor of Ormož, Danijel Vrbnjak, signed a declaration of intent for the project. Minister Han described Palfinger's decision as a great success - especially in view of the over 30 years of experience of the company in Slovenia and the current geopolitical challenges in Europe.

Production and infrastructure

Palfinger plans to build a modern production facility for cranes and lever solutions within the next four to five years, together with an education center, a coating system and a logistics center. The new system will take an area of around 18.5 hectares, which offers sufficient space for expansion and development, as reports the news portal "Sobotainfo.com".

The Ormož location was selected due to its logistical advantages and the proximity to a planned expressway. Coo Susanek found that this geographical location will create a connection to the existing works in Southeast Europe, including Bulgaria and Serbia. This will not only increase the efficiency of production, but also optimize logistics between the different locations.

The existing work of Palfinger in Maribor, about 50 kilometers northwest of Ormož, also remains in operation. This plant, which has been in operation since 1993, has now proven to be too small to meet the current business requirements. Last year, this work generated sales of 240.5 million euros and a net profit of 9.5 million euros, reported the daily newspaper "Večer". Between 2019 and 2023, sales doubled, which underlines the positive development of the company in the region. At the end of 2023, the Maribor factory employed 841 employees.

This massive investment and the planned expansion are not only another chapter in the success story of Palfinger, but also a sign of trust in the economic stability of Slovenia. The planned measures show the company's commitment to expand its presence and production capacities in the region.
