Rhinovirus as a secret protective shield against Covid-19 in children!
A current study has shown that infections with rhinoviruses, the most common pathogens of colds, offer a partial protective effect against Covid-19. Between May 2020 and February 2021, researchers at the National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado, carried out regular draw -litens to examine the interactions between these virus infections. In their investigation, 1,000 compassion samples were taken from a total of 1,394 US households, which corresponds to a significant data collection of over 36,000 samples. Subjects carried out subjects twice a month, with the results provided remarkable knowledge about the role of rhinoviruses in the context of Sars-Cov-2.
The study found that with a Rhinovirus infection, participants had a 48 percent lower risk of a SARS-COV-2 infection in the past 30 days. Viral interference and their effects

According to a further study in the Journal of InfectIoS Diseases, children are less common to Covid-19 than their parents, even if they live in the same household. These observations are also attributed to the frequent respiratory infections in the early years of life that strengthen the children's immune system. In fact, it turned out that Rhinoviren triggered an interferon-related positive reaction that restricts the multiplication of SARS-COV-2, which indicates that rhinoviruses may influence the covid-19 epidemiology.
In addition, earlier studies show negative interactions between rhinoviruses and influenza A viruses, which indicates that the presence of rhinoviruses can influence the epidemiology of other respiratory viruses. These studies underline the relevance of respiratory viruses in the context of the covid-19 pandemic and stimulate further research.
Future research perspectives
The findings suggest that an increased prevalence of rhinoviruses could reduce the increase in new Covid 19 cases. Mathematical simulations support this hypothesis and could help in the future to expand the understanding of virus interactions and to develop potential therapeutic approaches. Scientists hope that future studies will examine further molecular mechanisms behind this viral viral interference and will clarify their importance for the development of antiviral therapies.
The comprehensive results of these studies emphasize the complexity of the epidemiology of respiratory viruses and show that rhinoviruses can play an unexpected role in protecting Sars-Cov-2.
