Raise detectors save life: fire in Villacher apartment successfully deleted

In the early morning of June 11, 2025, at 04:15 a.m., a smoke detector triggered an alarm in a multi -party house in the Perau district in Villach, which was able to defuse a potentially dangerous situation in good time. Tenants informed the police about the fire -threatening smoke development, which was already visible when the officials arrived. The local fire brigade, consisting of the main fire station Villach and the fire brigade Perau, was immediately alerted to control the situation. Fortunately, the tenant, an older lady, could extinguish the fire herself before the emergency services arrived.

The fire brigade quickly made sure that the tenant was brought outside, where she was then admitted to the Villach State Hospital by the Red Cross for clarification. A respiratory protection team from the fire brigade checked the fire site, removed burned objects from the kitchen and used a thermal imaging camera to discover any embers. By using high -performance fans, the apartment was freed from the smoke. The fire brigade suspected that the cause of the fire in the improper handling should be found with open light.

smoke detector as a lifesaver

This incident once again illustrates the important role of smoke detectors in residential buildings. According to Rauch detectors Lebens residents, smoke detectors can save lives by indicating a danger at an early stage. In the past 30 years, the number of brand deaths in Germany has decreased by less than half, which is partly due to the increased use of smoke detectors. While 787 fire deaths were still recorded in 1990, there were only 388 in 2020. These statistics underline the importance of fire protection measures and preventive technologies.

The entire deployment in Villach lasted around half an hour and went without further injuries. The fire brigade and the police would like to bring the importance of home smoke detectors closer to the public and point out that they act as an indispensable lifeline in emergencies.
