Austria's women in 3x3 basketball: EM ticket secured!
Austria's women have successfully qualified for the 3 × 3 Europe Cup 2025. The ÖBV team convinced during the qualification tournament in Kosice, Slovakia, and ended the group phase undefeated in Pool B. Alexia Allesch, Anja Fuchs-Robtin, Sigi Koizar and Sina Höllerl. They won their last game with an 18:15 win against the hosts from Slovakia. Before that, they celebrated a comeback against Portugal after they had back 13:18 and secured the victory with 21:19. Other successes of the team were victories against Georgia (21: 1) and the Czech Republic (17:14). The team brings this excellent performance to the 3 × 3 Europe Cup 2025, which will take place in Copenhagen from September 5th to 7th.
The men of the Austrian team were able to record their participation in the Europe Cup in the previous year after winning the Gold Medal 2024 as secured. Austria thus relies on a strong presence both in the women's and men's team at the upcoming European Championship.
German women in the quarterfinals
Another look at the European basketball scene shows that German women with Elisa Mevius have moved into the quarter -finals of the European Championship. However, Mevius and her team had difficulty winning the group victory and had to give up Poland with 14:21. In the first knockout round you will meet the Netherlands and the game is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The European Championship titles will then be awarded on Sunday.
Mevius, who is the only remaining player who contributed to the Olympic victory in Paris, plays in a young team that also includes Amelie Kröner, Victoria Poros and Ama Degbeon.
