Austrian Film Prize 2025: Minichmayr and Schuch clears off!

Wien, Österreich - On Thursday evening this year's awarding of the Austrian Film Award took place in the Vienna HQ Studios. On this festive opportunity, the best films and most talented actors were awarded a total of 18 categories. The memory of the victims of the tragic rampage of Graz, which threw a shadow on the celebrations, was particularly moving. The academy expressed their condolences to those affected and the actually planned after-show party was canceled to express grief.

A total of an impressive 298 documentaries, 304 feature films and 218 short films have been submitted since the foundation of the academy. Every year 25 to 30 people have been awarded, and 308 price sculptures have been awarded by Valie Export since the prize.

The big winners of the evening

With five awards each, the film The Village Next to Paradise by Sabine Moser and Oliver Neumann was the great clearer of the evening and received the prize for the best feature film. But also with a tiger sleeping by Anja Salomonowitz could assert himself with five prices in the different categories.

Birgit Minichmayr convinced in the main actor categories with the best female leading role for their performance in with a tiger sleep and Albrecht Schuch was awarded the best male main actor for his role in Pfau-am I real? . In the secondary actor categories, the awards were made:

The ORF was strongly represented with a total of 52 nominations, while top candidates such as Corsage by Marie Kreutzer and Eismayer caused a sensation.
