Austrians plan expensive summer vacation: This is how savings are made!

The travel guys of the Austrians remain unbroken in 2025, even in the face of economic challenges and increasing costs. While the main motive for vacation is relaxation, 22 percent of travelers also embark on culinary journey of discovery and 13 percent value sporting activities. Families, especially younger travelers under the age of 30, often use private cars for arrival (75 percent), while solo travelers choose alternative means of transport such as bus (27 percent) and train (31 percent). This illustrates the different travel patterns and preferences of the age groups. Despite the uncertain economic framework, only 17 percent of those surveyed think of a waiver of vacation.

The middle per capita budget for summer vacation 2025 is over 1,200 euros. In comparison, the Austrians invested an average of 2,071 euros per person in the travel year 2024. Average expenditure of EUR 2,073 will be assumed for the coming year. More than half of the travelers expected to save this year.
