Birgit Weinsteiger-Tauer: New Bundestag candidate of the Free Voters

On Thursday, the free voters presented their candidate for the Bundestag in Marzling. Birgit Weinsteiger-Tauer, a committed politician from Schnotting and former councilor in Kirchdorf, will be officially nominated for the elections on November 26. This nomination takes place in a context that is characterized by serious financial worries that affect both the municipalities and the district.

District Administrator Helmut Petz vividly appealed to those present during the annual general meeting at the Gasthaus Nagerl, since the financial resources of the municipalities are becoming increasingly scarce. "We drive towards the wall at high speed," warned Petz and made it clear that constant growing demands on public health insurance companies are becoming increasingly challenging. The district administrator in particular addressed the financial burdens that arise from the state through new requirements.

Financial challenges of the municipalities

District Administrator Petz left no doubt that the financial situation of the district is critical. Personnel costs rose from 35 million euros to 56 million euros in 2020, which is primarily due to an increase in claims for the housing benefit. "This cannot go on," says Petz, who considers the constant reabsuits and reduction in bureaucracy necessary.

The district's clinic, although in a stable state, struggles with a deficit of 3.7 million euros due to chronic underfunding. These economic challenges require a determined action by those responsible in order to set up sustainably effective administration.

One dispute was the discussion about the district levy, which some mayors inspire at the district council. Rainer Schneider expressed his concern about this inter -municipal dynamic, which he described as a "disturbance from the city of Freising". This remark led to irritation among the mayors, with Zolling Mayor Helmut Priller pointed out that it was only a zero round and that there was no disturbance in the actual sense.

The unity of the communities is now being put to the test. Petz underlined that a break in the district councils would have fatal consequences and that the district would ultimately be without a household, which could possibly last up to a year. The common strength, which has so far characterized the action in the district, should be preserved.

At the end of the meeting, the new elections were also held in the FW district association. Maria Scharlach remains chair, while Benno Zierer and Scharlach are at the top for the next few years. Sonja Kieslinger is still responsible for the cash register, and Stephanie Pflügler acts as secretary.

In an emotional final round, Scharlach found: "The nerves lie bare." This shows how tense the situation is within the political landscape in the district, and it remains to be seen how developments will be shaped in the coming weeks.

The concerns and challenges with which the free voters are confronted not only affect their election ambitions, but also the financial and social stability of their communities. Birgit Weinsteiger-Tauer plans to campaign for the concerns of rural areas and will certainly play a central role in the upcoming political arguments.
