Brave residents save 23-year-old from attack in Vienna-Floridsdorf!
in Vienna-Floridsdorf, shortly after midnight, there was an attempted robbery on a 23-year-old woman. The perpetrator, a 20-year-old Slovak without an upright place of residence in Austria, tried to steal the mobile phone from behind when entering her house by pressing her against a house wall. According to 5min.at, however, the victim fought for help.
His screams aroused the attention of two residents who immediately hurried to the button. The two men were able to keep the perpetrator from his project and record him until the police arrived. The young man was then temporarily arrested and reported on suspicion of attempted robbery. The 23-year-old suffered several mild injuries in the incident, but was released into home care.

The incident is not isolated and is in the context of a worrying development of crime in Vienna. According to vienna.at, the violent crimes and robberies in public places have increased since 2024. The number of suspects in particular has increased. Since 2010, the number of suspects under the age of 18 has risen from 8,360 to 14,804 in 2024.
The increase in predatory offenses is alarming in Vienna. In 2024, 1,394 predatory offenses were registered, which corresponds to an increase of 18.1% compared to the previous year. In particular, raids in public locations rose from 776 to 952. In order to counteract this tendency, the city of Vienna took preventive measures, including the establishment of an interdisciplinary working group "Child and Youth Crime".
The police immediately accepted the investigation into the incident in Floridsdorf. Due to the increase in violent crime in Vienna, an increased police presence on the streets for more security is prepared.
