The most recent local council resolution in the market town of Frantschach-St. Gertraud, which took place at the artBOX event center, ensured that some key decisions were made unanimously. The chairman of the control committee, GR Roswitha KLösch, presented a report on the audit of the 2023 annual financial statements of the Frantschach-St. Gertraud KG confirmed. A central point on the agenda was the 1st supplementary estimate for 2024. Higher expenses were planned for various projects that the municipality would like to implement in the coming months. The most important planned expenses include €80,000 for expansion and renovation work at the all-day school and the commissioning of a second group in the daycare center. Furthermore, costs of €43,000 are planned for a new mobile excavator and €54,300 for expanding the street lighting at the kindergarten. Catastrophe damage amounting to €180,000 was also taken into account in the budget. Despite these high expenses, the net result of the supplement was slightly negative with a loss of 20,300 euros. However, this was also decided unanimously.

Change of school district

Another important decision concerned the change of the school district of the St. Gertraud elementary school. The local council decided to expand the boundaries of the school district in order to enable students from the cadastral communities of Waldenstein, Vorder- and Hintertheißenegg, located in the municipality of Wolfsberg, to attend elementary school without permission to attend schools outside the district. However, this step requires a corresponding resolution from the municipality of Wolfsberg in order to come into force.

In addition, it was decided to continue local nursing care with the communities in the Upper Lavant Valley. This is an important aspect that supports the health care of the population. Another unanimous decision was to change the financing plan for the replacement of a new fire engine for the Kamp volunteer fire department. This investment is considered necessary to improve the safety and efficiency of the fire department.

In addition, liability for the current account of the event center Frantschach-St. Gertraud KG and the continuation of the climate and energy model region “Energy Paradise Lavanttal” were discussed. These measures are aimed at promoting the municipality's ecological initiatives. Various minor changes to the zoning plan were also unanimously approved in order to meet the needs of the community.
