Wolves lose 4:5 in an exciting duel in Feldkirch

In an exciting duel last weekend, the Wolves traveled to Feldkirch for their first game after the international break, where they met Pioneers Vorarlberg. Coach Jaspers' team had to do without a few key players and hoped to set the course for victory with a good start to the game. New goalkeeper Eddie Pasquale stood between the posts for the first time in a Wolves jersey. On the other hand, the Pioneers also struggled with injuries, including the absence of Pallestrang, Woger and Allen.

The game started with an outstanding chance for the Wolves when Purdeller initiated a quick advance and fed Lacroix. But the experienced player couldn't take advantage of the opportunity. Instead, the home team took the lead in the second minute through Gilmor, who was able to beat the new goalie Pasquale from close range. In the course of the first third, the Wolves managed to reduce the score to 2-1 through Petan in the 13th minute. But the Pioneers remained dominant and led 2-1 after the first period.

The gameplay in detail

Neither team was able to score any goals in the second third, but the tactical order was noticeably better. While the Pioneers controlled the puck, the Wolves had problems finding dangerous shots. Lacroix showed some good attempts, but failed at the post. Towards the end of the third, the Wolves' activity was initially increased by being outnumbered, but here too they were unable to equalize.

In the final third it initially looked like a turnaround for the Wolves. After an unfortunate loss of the puck behind his own goal, Tschofen scored to make it 3-1 in the 46th minute. Keefer made it 4-1 just a minute later. Although the Wolves didn't give up and got up to 4:3 through Findlay and Lacroix, mistakes crept in again that the Pioneers were able to use to make it 5:3.

In the final phase, the wolves showed great fighting spirit and put everything on one card. They scored again with their sixth field player, but the equalizer was no longer possible. In the end, the team from Brunico unfortunately lost 5:4.

The next challenge is already on Friday: The Wolves have to play away against VSV in Villach before facing the Graz 99ers on Saturday. The fans are excited to see whether the team can win back the lost points in the coming games.
