There is a significant change in leadership in the Villach city council. Thomas Moraus takes over the position of city building director from Otto Lauritsch, who is retiring after five years in office. The position was re-advertised and Moraus successfully prevailed against 16 other applicants who were recruited from both the town hall and the private sector. The selection process was supported by an external personnel consultancy.
The new construction director brings extensive experience with him. Thomas Moraus, 44 years old and native of Villach, previously worked in civil engineering offices in Vienna and Klagenfurt. He also worked in project management for a section of the Koralmbahn. He previously headed the civil engineering and traffic planning department in the municipality and has acquired several advanced training diplomas. "I'm looking forward to the new, responsible task. Together with my team, I would like to advance the city's development," said Moraus, expressing his motivation.

Mayor Günther Albel warmly congratulated Moraus on his appointment. “It is gratifying to see that candidates from our own company are given the opportunity to develop further,” he emphasized. The mix of internal and external specialists is considered an important factor for the high quality of work in the municipality.
Moraus' appointment as construction director comes at a time when several key positions in the city's top management have been filled. Recently, not only the municipal director Georg Wuzella, but also his deputy Alexandra Burgstaller and two business group managers were successfully filled.
