City of Villach: Thomas Moraus new construction director for future -oriented projects

In the city magistrate of Villach there is a significant change of management. Thomas Moraus takes over the post of Otto Lauritsch's city construction director, who will retire after five years. The position was rewritten, and Moraus successfully prevailed against 16 other applicants who recruited both from the town hall and from the private sector. The selection process was supported by an external personnel consultancy.

The new building director brings extensive experience. Thomas Moraus, 44 years old and a native of Villacher, previously worked in civil engineering offices in Vienna and Klagenfurt. He also worked in the project management for a section of the Koralbahn. So far, he has headed the civil engineering and traffic planning department in the magistrate and has acquired several further training diplomas. "I am looking forward to the new, responsible task. Together with my team, I would like to drive urban development," Moraus said his motivation.

Mayor Günther Albel warmly congratulated Moraus on his appointment. "It is gratifying to see that candidates from their own house are given the opportunity to develop further," he emphasized. The mix of internal and external specialists is an important factor for the high quality of the work in the magistrate.

Moraus's appeal to the building director takes place at a time when several key positions in the top management of the city have been filled. Recently, not only the magistrate director Georg Wuzella, but also his deputy Alexandra Burgstaller and two business group leaders were successfully filled. These changes show that there is an active effort to maintain safe and competent management structures within the city administration.
